Predictive Modelling of Land Subsidence Due to Groundwater Level Decline in Gedebage District, Bandung, Indonesia

چکیده

Abstract The Gedebage district in Bandung city has experienced a vast physical development recent years. Previous geodetic studies showed that the area undergoes high-rate land subsidence. subsurface soil of remarkably high compressibility, void ratio, and water content. A thick sequence soft organic clay 20-27 m exists, making prone to subside. As continues develop, it is important predict future rate subsidence area. This paper aims analyze contribution groundwater exploitation rate. combination 1-dimensional Terzaghi consolidation analytical analysis numerical modeling was employed this study. Groundwater level data up 2015 used, hydrostatic condition assumed occur 1986. Results show subsided as much 161 cm since Modeling results are consistent with survey results. It predicted will slow down next 40 years, provided remains stable.

Predicting land subsidence rate due to groundwater exploitation in the district 19 of Tehran using MODFLOW and InSAR

During recent years, groundwater exploitation and thereby decreasing hydraulic head in the compressible sedimentary aquifer which is placed in the district 19 of Tehran have been caused noticeable land subsidence. The land subsidence has been damaging the infrastructures which have been being built in the south of Tehran Basin, especially in the district 19 of Tehran. A finite-difference ground...

Land subsidence due to groundwater withdrawal: potential damage of subsidence and sea level rise in southern New Jersey, USA

Land subsidence due to groundwater withdrawal combined with a global sea level rise creates a serious environmental problem in the coastal region. Groundwater withdrawal results in fluid pressure change in the layers. The pressure change in the layers induces both elastic and inelastic land compaction. The elastic compaction can be recovered if the water level rises again and inelastic compacti...

Monitoring of land subsidence due to overexploitation of groundwater using PS-InSAR in the region in hamadan proviance, Iran

Land subsidence is one of the environmental hazards that has been less well-regarded by human societies due to lower human casualties. However, the earth subsidence causes irreparable damage to the urban areas and adjacent plains over time. In this study, Permanent Scatterer (PS) method has been used to monitor land subsidence in the region in hamadan proviance and its adjacent plains in west o...

Groundwater extraction, land subsidence, and sea-level rise in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam

Groundwater exploitation is a major cause of land subsidence, which in coastal areas poses a flood inundation hazard that is compounded by the threat of sea-level rise (SLR). In the lower Mekong Delta, most of which lies <2 m above sea level, over-exploitation is inducing widespread hydraulic head (i.e., groundwater level) declines. The average rate of head decline is ∼0.3 m yr, based on time-s...
